Chennai School of Ship Management (CSSM) makes an indelible print in the field of Marine Engineering as a Maritime Education & Training Institution for over 18years, with a view to produce adequately trained manpower, catering to the demands of the shipping industry. CSSM was pioneer in commencing the Alternate Training Scheme (ATS) to have a structured intervention to produce best in class ‘Marine Engineers’. This course was implemented in India by the DGS, based on the IMO Model Course 7.04.
CSSM is able to achieve high campus recruitments since preference of ATS cadets by shipping companies are quite high. This is mainly due to the course content which has a blend of academic as well as practical training on-board. Hence, employment potential is quite high through Alternate Training Scheme course. CSSM, therefore, pays intensive attention to a successful career of each and every candidate and remain as a beacon in their life through its dedicated efforts continuously. Saptarshi Das of Batch – 2 (1999-2002) is the first cadet of CSSM to become Chief Engineer To provide 100% job opportunities in reputed companies through campus placement. CSSM flags should fly all over the world. CSSM cadets are sailing as 5th, 4th , 3rd & 2nd Engineers with a salary ranging from 750 to 3500 USD after completion of class IV Part A, Part B, Class II Part A &B. CSSM cadets are being absorbed as 5th Engineers in reputed companies
Cadet Marutikrishna and Cadet Md.Aziz-ur-Rahman (Batch-4) secured 7th rank in the seminar held by IME(I) in March 2004 among the 60 Cadets participated from 30 institutes. Cadet Maj Kumar Giri (Batch-5) was selected as the Best Engine Cadet for the Southern Region in 2005. He overwhelmed all counterparts, who took part from 20 other marine engineering college. Cadet Ritesh Henry Pascal & Cadet Johny Leishangthem secured 20th rank in the seminar organized by Meenakshi Sundaram Engineering College, Chennai in which candidates from almost 120 engineering colleges have participated.
