Stephen P, the Vice President Chief Naval Architect of carnival ship building says that the whole process of building a ship starts with drawing a line on a piece of paper, indicating the length of the ship. And from that line gradually the design of the whole ship is built up, steadily increasing the complexity of the design. The time lapse between the design process and the delivery of the fully built ship is approximately four years. Such is the complexity of building a ship.<\/p>\n

To master an art\/craft, you need to constantly educate yourself about the craft. Course Overview<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

M.Tech (aka Master of Technology), in general is a postgraduate degree programme designed to train and upgrade technological engineers. Naval Architecture is one among many specializations offered through M. Tech. Before going any further, let’s understand the literal meaning of the term “Naval Architecture”.<\/p>\n

The word ‘navy’ (noun form of naval) literally means, the\u00a0part of a country’s armed forces that operates military operations at sea. And the word ‘architecture’ means, the art and science of complex designing and making of something (building or any physical structure).<\/p>\n

However, Naval architecture is not limited to the architecture of naval vessels\/ships alone. A naval architect is responsible for planning, designing, constructing, rebuilding\/repairing, operation and maintenance of all stages of the life of a marine vehicle and off-shore structures, both commercial and military.
