History

In 1991, businessman Mr. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi founded the Islamic Academy of Education, a non-profit trust dedicated to the advancement of Muslims in particular and other minorities in general. The trustees chose to establish a dental college because they saw a gap in the field of health professional education. The Yenepoya Dental College received authorization from the Dental Council of India to teach future dentists in 1992, when it was accredited under section 3(A) of the UGC Act, 1956. The Yenepoya Institute of Nursing Sciences was established by the Trust in 1994, followed by the Yenepoya Medical College in 1999, the Yenepoya Nursing College in 2002, and the Yenepoya Physiotherapy College in 2003. (2003).

Graduate, Postgraduate, Ph.D., and numerous certification programmes are all offered by these universities. The management set out to provide high-quality higher education from the start, and in order to do so, they hired the top talent in each field. In the faraway outskirts of Mangalore, the trust built structures intended to create the best learning environments on a healthy campus with natural surroundings.In its pursuit of excellence in professional education, the Islamic Academy of Education chose to support the establishment of a new trust with the express objective of establishing a Deemed-to-be University (2007).

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Union of India, on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission, granted Yenepoya University Trust recognition and a Deemed-to-be University status under section 3A of the UGC Act 1956 in 2008 in recognition of the outstanding service rendered over the years by these institutions. A new chapter in the history of Yenepoya Institutions was thus begun.
