The office of the Commissioner for Entrance Exams (CEE) conducts Kerala Engineering, Architecture and Medical Entrance Exam (KEAM).to offer admissions in to professional courses in the fields of agriculture, medicine, engineering, and forestry.
Eligibility
Nationality:
Only Indian candidates will be eligible to apply for admission to KEAM 2018. Candidates who are Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) will also be considered at par with Indian citizens for admission, however, they will not be entitled to any kind of reservation.
Nativity:
On the basis of nativity, candidates will also be considered for admission and categorized into Keralite, Non-Keralite Category I (NK I) and Non-Keralite Category II (NK II).
Keralite:
Candidates of Kerala origin will be categorized as a Keralite. Children of All India Service (AIS) officers (Non-Keralites) allotted to Kerala cadre are also considered as Keralites but it is to be noted that they will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/ Persons with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession.
Non-Keralite Category I (NK I):
Candidates will be categorized as Non-Keralite Category I (NK I) if they are not of Kerala origin but satisfy any one of the following conditions:
Candidates who have undertaken the qualifying course in Kerala and their Non- Keralite parents belong to Government of India/ Defence Service, posted to Kerala.
Candidates who have undergone the qualifying course in Kerala and their Non- Keralite parents who are serving/ served Government of Kerala for a minimum period of two years.
Candidates who are not of Kerala origin but has been a resident of Kerala for a period of 5 years within the period of 12 years of their study.
Candidates who are not of Kerala origin but who have undergone their school studies in Kerala from standard VIII to XII.
Such candidates will be considered against ‘State Merit’ seats for engineering but will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/ Persons with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession during the KEAM admission procedure.
Non-Keralite Category II (NK II):
Candidates coming under this category will be eligible for admission to government and management quota seats in B.Tech programmes offered by government-controlled self-financing colleges and private self-financing engineering.
Candidates in this category will be considered for admission to government seats in government-controlled self-financing engineering colleges only when the Keralite and Non- Keralite I (NK I) candidates are not available for admission.
Candidates in this category will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/ Persons with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession.
Note:
Candidates belonging to the above mentioned three categories will be admitted in respect of seats reserved for the nominees of Government of India, Administration of Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep Administration, and Jammu & Kashmir.
Education Qualification:
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology/ Mathematics separately and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology /Mathematics put together are eligible.

Qualifying Marks:
For both these courses, candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (as per G.O. (P) No. 208/66/Edn. dated 2.5.1966, G.O.(MS) No.95/08/SCSTDD dated 06.10.2008 and amendments thereof), will have a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination.
They need only 45% marks in the case of Mathematics/Biology and 45% marks in the case of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology put together. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination.
The relaxation of marks in the qualifying examination extended to SEBC candidates only will be applicable to OEC candidates even if they are allotted to the unveiled seats of SC/ST quota.
No rounding off of the percentage of marks to the nearest whole number is permitted. For example, a score of 50 marks out of 100 or 150 marks out of 300 alone will be considered as 50% marks and scores of 45 out of 100 or 135 out of 300 alone will be considered as 45% marks for determining eligibility.
Note:
Candidates should have attained the academic eligibility on or before the last date specified for submission of academic data.
Age Limit:
When it comes to the age limit, no relaxations are permitted. The applicant must be 17 years old for appearing in KEAM 2018 examination.
