Historical Milestones of CoVS Guwahati

1948
Founded as the first veterinary college in NE India. Initial intake: 33 students for BVSc & AH
1960
Moved to Khanapara (current location). Intake increased to 65 students. Duration extended to 5 years, eligibility upgraded to Higher Secondary level
1969
Became constituent of AAU upon establishment of Assam Agricultural University. Adopted Trimester System and introduced Postgraduate programs in 5 disciplines

NEET is NOT required for BVSc & AH at AAU Guwahati. Admission is through the AAU Veterinary Entrance Test (AAU-VET) — a computer-based test in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (160 MCQs, 160 marks, 2 hours). For the ICAR All India Quota seats, admission is through the separate ICAR entrance process. Neither requires NEET UG.
