B Arch is an undergraduate degree that trains one to become a qualified professional architect. This course involves all the aspects of successfully designing and constructing structures such as buildings/bridges etc.

There are two aspects to architecture, the first involves drawing the blueprint for the structure keeping in mind the physical limitations of the space including the topography, nature of the soil etc.

Architects must also take into account the client’s requirements, the purpose for which the building or structure will be used, the number of people who will be using the space etc.

Once the architect has decided on a design taking all of the above factors into account, the second phase of an architects job starts. In this phase, the architect must closely supervise the execution of his or her design to ensure that the structure is being built as per the design and the appropriate materials are being used based on the usage of the building.

An architect must, therefore, have knowledge of engineering. Arts and technology and successfully marry the three disciplines to construct an aesthetically pleasing, functional and stable building that will stand the test of time and withstand any natural calamities that might be typical of the region that the building has been constructed in.

For example, if an architect is assigned a project in an earthquake-prone region, he or she should design the building that can withstand jerks and shakes. Overall, architecture is a challenging yet highly rewarding field that is ever growing as the country progresses and develops.
