An application for admission as an advocate is made in a prescribed form to the State Bar Council within the jurisdiction the applicant proposes to practice.

Scope, Salary and Job Opportunities:

Law is one of those fields which would never face recession. You might already know why I am making that statement. Everyone from a criminal to organization needs a lawyer; May it be for a legal advice, notary or fighting a case for them in court of law. It’s not just about that, the money involved in it also huge. If you are working as an independent practitioner, the amount depends on the type and complexity of the case you take up or you can charge.

If you join a firm or an organization, you may end up getting somewhere around 3-4 Lakhs per annum. But if you were able to crack the interviews, interned well, you may even end up getting around 12-18 Lakhs per annum. The amount of salary you will get depends on your skill level and your internships.

Eligibility and Entrance Exams:

The eligibility depends on the course you want to take. For BA LLB, B.Com LLB and BSc LLB it’ll be a 5years course and the main criteria is that you should have passed 12th.

If you want to take LLB, then you should have a bachelor’s degree. It’ll be a 3 years course. You can start prepare for law entrance exams right from class 11th or 12th standard.

National Law University aka NLU conducts the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) every year. CLAT is the most sought-after entrance exam for law aspirants. Once you clear the test, you can get admissions for Bachelor of Law (LLB) which is a five years program and includes BA LLB, B.Com LLB and BSc. LLB.
