All Medical Colleges in Meghalaya — Detailed Profiles
The only government medical college in Meghalaya and the state’s sole institution offering NMC-recognised MBBS seats until 2024. Established in 2008 under an Act of Parliament as an autonomous institute of national importance, NEIGRIHMS is the premier medical, teaching and referral hospital for the entire North-Eastern region. Offers 50 MBBS seats with admission entirely through NEET-UG and All India Quota / Meghalaya state counselling conducted by the Directorate of Health Services.
Meghalaya’s first and only private medical college, newly established in 2024 at Khanapara, Ri-Bhoi District, near the Assam border. Functions under the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) — a NAAC ‘A’-grade university ranked in NIRF’s top 200 band — and holds a Letter of Permission from the NMC for its 150 MBBS seats. The campus runs a 605-bed teaching hospital with departments including Urology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology and CTVS. State-quota annual fees run considerably higher than NEIGRIHMS, with management-quota fees higher still — always confirm the current fee structure directly with the college.
