Zoram Medical College & Hospital β Detailed Profile
The first and only medical college in Mizoram, established in 2018 as the Mizoram Institute of Medical Education & Research and inaugurated at Falkawn on the outskirts of Aizawl. Converted into a fully government-owned institution and renamed Zoram Medical College & Hospital in December 2024. Affiliated with Mizoram University and recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the college offers a 100-seat MBBS programme with 15% seats filled through All India Quota counselling and the remainder through Mizoram state NEET-UG counselling. The campus spans over 84 acres and runs a 470-bed teaching hospital with 38 ICU beds attached, closely linked with the State Referral Hospital, Falkawn.

What is MBBS?
MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) is a 5.5-year undergraduate medical degree β 4.5 years of academic training covering pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical phases, followed by a mandatory 1-year rotating internship. In Mizoram, admission is entirely through NEET-UG, followed by centralised counselling conducted by the Directorate of Higher & Technical Education, Mizoram, and the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the All India Quota share.
