BA LLB Course Duration

BA LLB is a 5-year integrated undergraduate programme with a total of 10 semesters. Two terms come under each year with a minimum of four or more subjects covered as part of a single semester. The minimum prescribed time to complete the course is 5 years, however, the student is provided with a maximum of 8 years to pass all subjects and finish the course.

BA LLB Eligibility Criteria

A candidate must have a 10+2 passing certificate from a recognized university or board under any stream.
The minimum cut-off is set at 50% as per the Bar Council of India.
The candidate must not be over 20 years old at the time of admission. Candidates from reserved categories have a more relaxed limit at 22.
Most law colleges require an entrance exam qualification followed by an interview round.

BA LLB Admission Procedure

First things first, research thoroughly and shortlist colleges based on your preference and financial background.
Getting your hands on the admission forms is the second most important step. They can be collected at the college campus or online via the website of the college or university.
Clearing an entrance exam would be mandatory and CLAT is the most commonly accepted one. The details of specialized aptitude tests conducted by colleges can be found on the respective college’s website.
CLAT application forms are given out between January and March. The test, which contains questions regarding legal reasoning and aptitude, mathematics, general English and current affairs and trends, is conducted in the month of May every year.
Colleges put out a merit list after the entrance exam scores are released. The minimum passing is set at 45% and those who score above the cut-off of the colleges advance to the next and final round – interview/counseling.
The candidate is confirmed of a seat after a personal interview/counseling round.

Each subject carries 5 credits (4 for theory and 1 for project/moot court tutorial) as per the rules laid down by the Bar Council of India. 70% attendance is compulsory to be allowed to write the semester-end written examinations.
