MBBS in Russia:

Russia – the land known for its sheer size, high-quality vodka, brutish bears and of course, a macho leader in Vladimir Putin. That’s the popular consensus. Now, did you know that the Soviet superpower is also one of the best destinations to pursue the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course?

Surprised? Confused? Apprehensive? Don’t be. This article will introduce you to a relatively uncharted educational pathway.

Are you one of the many ambitious men and women who aspire of donning the classy white coat, walk around with a stethoscope and have a Dr. prefix before your name? Becoming a doctor is a prestigious and honorable achievement. It’s not easy. Possibly one of the toughest streams of education. But, it’s highly rewarding. Extremely satisfying and most of all, a deservedly respectful career.

Many students are forced to give up on their dreams of becoming a doctor and there are various reasons behind the unfortunate phenomenon. One of them, the biggest I must admit, is the unaffordable nature of the course. Unless you are a whiz kid or academically exceptional and can land a good rank in the entrance exams, getting into any of the medical colleges with a manageable fee structure would be nearly impossible.

The ‘donations’ go up to crores. Yes, MBBS seats are sold for crores in top private medical colleges. Here’s a suggestion. Bypass India. Think broader, think Russia. Let me explain why.

Why study MBBS in Russia?

Russia has been a hot spot for determined wannabe Indian doctors since the late 1990s. Over the years, Russia has helped around thousands of Indian students become doctors, who have either come back to India to practice or have migrated to another country. 10,000 students visit the largest nation in the world and pursue the coveted course to become a doctor each year.

But what makes an MBBS in Russia as attractive as Disha Patani’s Instagram handle? These are some of the major factors that contributed to the rise in demand for MBBS seats in Russia:

  • Medical colleges in Russia are accredited and recognized by all the statutory bodies in every country such as Medical Council of India (MCI), World Health Organization (WHO), UNESCO, FAIMER, etc.
  • Low course fees, much lower than Indian colleges
  • Reasonable cost of living
  • Spacious and modern accommodation services with high-speed connectivity
  • Indian food and other different cuisines
  • No requirement to clear TOEFL/ IELTS

  • Welcoming Russian locals who will make you feel at home
  • Secure habitat and conditions to study
  • Coursework in English
  • Experienced faculty
  • Seamless admission procedure
  • An appealing culture and lifestyle
  • Updated coursework with a major focus on innovation and incorporation of the latest trends and developments in medicine and education

Know More About Russia:

The transcontinental country may get some flak for its political ideology and controversial foreign relation policies, however, it remains one of the most habitable countries in the world.

With a total area of 17,098,246 total sq. Km and well-laid out network of transportation systems in place, Russia offers diversity and tons of territorial options.

The people are hospitable, the culture is exciting and there are many activities that will keep you entertained. Subtropical beaches, forests, and treeless mountain tracts are just some of the beautiful attractions of Russia’s diverse landscape.

The only drawback you may face is the climate. The unobstructed arctic winds flow through the country which takes the temperatures below -30/40 degree Celsius during the extreme winters. Russia, though, also experiences dry summers with temperatures climbing beyond 30 degree Celsius.

If you can adapt to the erratic climate, which shouldn’t be a problem, Russia is the ideal place to live. Now you may be wondering. How many years would I have to study? What’s the procedure? And fees? Didn’t you say it was lesser than Indian colleges? Your head is bursting with questions and we will address each one of them, one at a time…
